Is that winter sinus pressure weighing you down? Don’t worry we’ve got a few quick tips to help you out this winter season.

  1. The absolute best way to avoid this in the first place is to stay healthy.  Generally with the holiday season comes lots of sugars, our favorite sugary holiday coffees (guilty over here too!) and then another serving of sugar on the side.  Maintaining a well-balanced diet, staying hydrated, and physical activity is helpful.

  1. Fill in your nutritional voids. I’m a HUGE advocate for a solid multi-vitamin like the ones we have in the office.  We carry OmniEssentials.  Most, if not all, of the Ames Spine & Sport team take this one.  They are packed with all of your essentials and ours even has some extras that we love—CoQ10, Glutatione, Reservatrol, Turmeric, Bromelain, and more!  It even has some important minerals—zinc, magnesium, iodine, selenium, copper, manganese, chromium, and more.

  1. Unwind your suboccipitals. If you have ever laid on my table and I started working on the base of your skull and you noticed the flush of pressure, I probably released your suboccipitals.  My favorite way to do this on myself at home is to use a RadRoller.  Follow our social media and we’ll make a how-to video this upcoming week.

  1. ACUPUNCTURE! Have you seen me yet for a acupuncture?!  This is probably one of my favorite ways to release sinus pressure.  It’s fast, it’s effective, and it lasts more than a day.

  1. Breathe in steam. Hot showers always make a sick body feel better.  I also like to put a few drops of eucalyptus and peppermint essential oil at the bottom of the shower too.

  1. Our massage therapists are fantastic at getting the muscles of the cervical spine and head to relax and also working on sinus pressure.  Even a 30 minute focused massage to this area can make a HUGE difference.
