What is Graston Technique Therapy, and why should you use this technique during your massage treatment?

Kristen, one of our amazing massage therapists is in the process of becoming Graston certified. We are now offering an additional treatment option for you, Graston Technique Therapy, and this can be easily added to your massage with an upcharge of $15! Normal Graston sessions can also be scheduled with Kristen for $45.

What is it?

Graston Technique Therapy is an instrument assisted soft tissue treatment, and it helps clinicians detect and treat soft tissue dysfunction. It also is an evidence-based method that combines rehabilitative exercises to improve musculoskeletal function.

What can it used for?

Graston can help with a number of different specific issues/injuries, such as edema reduction (swelling), scar tissue adhesions, entrapment syndromes such as carpal tunnel, and different kinds of sprains. It can also help eliminate pain, decrease inflammation, increase extensibility in muscles, increase ROM (range of motion), etc.

Why use Graston?

This can become useful in the massage room because not only does it give Kristen another treatment option to better help clients, it can almost always be used. Some examples of a good time to use Graston include, if your motion is limited due to an injury, or tight muscles. Graston can help treat these conditions by getting into these areas and breaking up adhesions, and restoring normal function. Another way Graston can be beneficial during a massage is if you just had surgery. Once the sutures are out and the scar is healed, Graston can help break up any fascial restriction or scar tissue that built up due to trauma of the tissues. Leaving you with less pain and which would lead to more stiffness if left untreated.
