What is CHUSA?

ChiroHealthUSA (CHUSA – we pronounce it “choo – sah”) is a third-party program we partner with as an option to make your chiropractic care more affordable. CHUSA is NOT an insurance policy, but rather a program we partner with for contracted rates for services.

Patients may choose to enroll for a few different reasons: Dr. Jessi is out of network with their insurance provider or plan type, they have a high deductible plan and don’t anticipate meeting their deductible, they don’t have chiropractic benefits on their plan, etc. If one of these reasons sounds similar to the position you find yourself in, CHUSA might be a good option for you too.

At our office, new patients who enroll in CHUSA pay $199 their first visit.. The CHUSA enrollment fee is $49 dollars, regardless of whether you are a new or existing patient, and can be paid by credit / debit card, cash, or check. For new patients, the remaining $150 goes toward your first exam and treatment. Each subsequent visit is capped at $65. The outlying exceptions to that $65 are if you do an additional treatment that does not fall under CHUSA (dry needling, acupuncture, etc.; the additional treatment charge would be on top of the $65) or if one of the doc needs to perform another exam, in which case the exam fee would be reduced but would also be in addition to the $65 for the treatment. If the billed amount is less than $65 for your visit, you would just pay the amount billed.

There are a few other things to keep in mind:

CHUSA is essentially a family plan. When enrolling, there is a space on the form to list dependents’ names (CHUSA classifies dependents as “Spouse, Domestic Partner, Dependent Children up to age 26, Parents in the Household over age 60, and any other IRS Dependent”). As long as you list the dependents when signing up, they will not have to pay the $49 to enroll.

CHUSA is valid for 365 days from the date of enrollment. This means you don’t have to re-enroll when the new year rolls around. It also means we won’t have you sign up until your first visit (you have to sign up in our office anyway, but we won’t make you come in early) or the next visit after it expires.

If you have a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA), you CANNOT use it to pay the $49 CHUSA membership fee, but you CAN use it to pay for your visits.

We know this is a lot of information to take in all at once. If you have any questions, we are more than happy to talk through the enrollment process and CHUSA benefits at our office with you, or check out the links below for more information from ChiroHealthUSA directly.
